It’s awesome… but …
It’s awesome… but!
Portuguese has a looooooooooot of verbs, and almost aaaaaaall of those are conjugated in the 6 persons… it’s just know the termination and add that to the verb! Now… the verbal times has a lot of variations… For example: “Pretérito imperfeito, pretérito perfeito, pretérito mais-que-perfeito, presente, futuro do pretérito e futuro do presente” (Imperfect past, perfect past, more-than-perfect past. present, past’s future and present’s future.)

A common mistake …
A common mistake Brazilians make is to say “Eu irei ler” “Ela irá estudar”, “Iremos comer às 8.”
You either say “Eu vou comer” or “Eu comerei”, to say “irei comer” is not accepted and most publishers agree with this rule.

I teach Portuguese …
I teach Portuguese for foreigners and I don’t teach them either “tu or vós”. When people use “tu” here they conjugate it wrongly as if “tu” were “você”. I work with publishing and subtitles and the official rule is to avoid using “tu and derivatives” unless it is hard to use “você” without making a mistake, such as “Eu amo você”, which is “wrong” according to the standard written language since you can’t use “você” after the verb, but they tell us to ignore this rule most of the time.

Nobody in Brazil …
Nobody in Brazil says VÓS. Not even one person. So, there is no need to learn this pronoun, unless you need to speak European Portuguese. The teacher in the video is correct, Brazilians say VOCÊS.

Hi Jason! I’m …
Hi Jason! I’m brazilian and i love your videos.
But i just want to make a small correction. The subject pronouns in portuguese are Eu/ TU/ Ele/ Nós/ VÓS/ Eles. That’s how we learn here in Brazil. Just like in portuguese from Portugal.
It just happens that in Brazil we use more often “Você(s)” (formal) and its verbal conjugation is the same as in the pronoun “Ele”, and portuguese people use a lot more “Tu” (informal).

Hi! Thank you so …
Hi! Thank you so much for your videos, they’ve been really helpful since I’m going to Brazil in a few months and I can only study Portuguese at home with a book and a cd in Portuguese of Portugal. Would you consider pointing out some of the grammatical differences between Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish? For someone like me who is nearly native in Spanish, it would be helpful so that I don’t apply the Spanish rules too much to Portuguese :)

Professor Jason, …
Professor Jason, por que você acha que os videos precisam ser melhorados quanto a qualidade tecnica? Na minha opinião já são ótimos agora! Pessoalmente, gostei muito quando você escrevia ao vivo em um quadrinho branco com uma caneta, como nas licões recentes do espanhol. Mas essa solução alí, usando cartas imprimidas, é legal também.
